Fried chicken pulau

Normally when I prepare chicken pulau I feel masalas not coating well in chicken. So this time I tried with fried chicken. And you know its really doubled the flavor and taste. Chicken was well coated with spice and salt, this is what my husband prefer:) 

3 cup basmati rice
1 kg chicken
3 onions (thinly sliced)
2 tomatoes (sliced)
1 tbsp chopped ginger
1 tbsp chopped garlic
5-6 green chili (chopped)
1 bay leaf
2 star anise
5 cloves
5 split cardamom
2 inch cinnamon stick
½ tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp coriander powder
¾ tsp garam masala
¾ tsp chicken masala
Salt to taste
Corriander leaves
2 tbsp oil
For chicken marination
1 tbsp red chili
1/3 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp curd
Salt to taste
Oil for fry

1)    Marinate the chicken pieces with turmeric powder, chili powder, salt and curd. Keep aside for 1 hr
2)   In a cooking pot add 2 tbsp oil then add clove, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf and star anise
3)   Once nice smell spread add sliced onion and saute till it turn translucent (add little salt while frying onion)
4)   Add chopped ginger, garlic and green chili
5)   Saute well for 2 minute. Add tomatoes and saute for 3 minute or till it cook well
6)   Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, chicken masala and salt
7)   Saute for 3 minute or till it combine well
8)   Meantime in another pan fry chicken pieces and add this fried chicken in above onion mixture. At this stage you can add 1 tbsp oil (chicken fried oil), if you need.
9)   Mix well then add washed and drained rice in this. mix slowly
10) Add 6 cup boiling water with salt (never add cold water). Then add coriander leaves. Mix well and close the lid
11)  Cook for 20 minute in medium flame (mix intermittently)
12) One the rice cooked well. Mix the rice slowly. Keep open (to evaporate water content, if anything left)
