Baklava a Turkish sweet

Today I am sharing with you my most favorite sweet recipe Baklava .First time I tasted it from University during a program. That was amazing, crispy texture, nuts and sugar... really yummy...Eventhough it is known as Turkish recipe you can find this yummy sweet all over Mediterranean countries.
Phyllo pastry/ sheet
50 g butter
1 ½ tsp oil
Powdered nuts (traditionally walnut is the main ingredient using for baklava. But here I used my son’s favorites ½ cup powdered hazelnut, ½ cup powdered pistachio, ½ cup powdered almond)
For sugar syrup
½ cup sugar
¼ cup water
¼ tsp lemon juice
¼ tsp rose water (optional)

1)    I prepared this in a 15 cm round baking dish. You can prepare in square dish. First, cut the phyllo sheet into rounds (I made 12 sheets you can take more to make more layer) and keep aside.
2)   Prepare sugar syrup :- Mix ½ cup sugar with ¼ cup water. Boil till sugar melt completely then add lemon juice and rose water. And keep 3 more minutes. Turn off the flame and let it cool.
3)    Melt the butter with oil
4)   Brush melted butter on baking dish, then place one sheet. Place another sheet, brush butter. Repeat this till 6 sheets (brush butter on every two sheets and don’t brush on final sheet)
5)   Sprinkle your powdered nuts (I didn’t make fine powder. one suggestion, fine powder will help you to cut easily)
6)   Then place another and repeat the above process (bush every two sheets)
7)   Cut this filled sheet as shown and brush butter nicely
8)   Bake in preheated oven at 1700C for 15-20 minute (temperature settings may vary depends on your over)

9)   After baking, let it sit for 10 minutes, then pour prepared sugar syrup on this and serve
